Recycling and Foundry
At Vintage Addiction we recycle our own metal scrap, trash and other discards. Reclaming the aluminum and copper for later use. |
---|
The metal scrap is loaded into a crucible, aluminum heated to about 1300 degrees (F), copper is heated to just below 2000 degrees (F). Contaminants are skimmed from the surface of the molten metal and then poured in to a variety of molds and ingots. New molds are being added frequently, many custom made in house. |
---|
We partner with the community offering scrap metal removal services. Skimming off items with properties for future projects we then take what we can process in house and any remaining is taken directly to be processed correctly for reuse in the metal industry. We try to intercept as much for our use as possible, keeping it from being loaded up and sent overseas. |

Some are left with impurities floating on the surface layer. Once cool, an hour long soak in acid removes the impurities. What remains can be a very interesting texture with crevices, pits, etc. |
